This panoramic view of St Petersburg and the river Neva shows on the left the Peter and Paul Fortress, where the city was founded in 1703. In the middle foreground we're looking down on the park at the end of the Vasilyevsky Island with on either side the peculiar Rostral columns. The shadow of the exchange building falls across the Strelka, or Arrow as this park is called. On the right side of the drawing, across the river the famous Winter Palace and behind it Palace square can also be seen.
