This huge drawing was made over a period of exactly two months and I managed to stay very close to the original idea. Last October, when I was on the train from Tende to Nice, I saw, looking back, this jawdropping panorama of the 'Village Perché' of Saorge soaring high above the Roya Valley. This drawing not only celebrates the beauty of the village and this valley but also the courage and determintaion of generations past who made this rough, remote valley their home and of those who built the wonderful Ventimiglia to Cuneo railway line.
